It's possible it's the storm, but it's also possible AT&T was "prepping" the network for tomorrow's 3GS launch and it went down. The same thing happened when the 3G was announced - they tried to upgrade the network and nuked it instead.

Most likely they'll have it fixed soon. I hope. I need my iPhone!!!

I upgraded to the new 3.0 OS on my existing 3G iPhone last night and am experiencing the same problems. When I am on wi-fi, I can get all features.

But when on AT&T, no 3G or E indicator in the menu bar, and also (perhaps as a result, as Robert suggests), erratic map performance, no e-mail, no web, can’t connect to app store, iTunes, etc.
I bet it is ATT
Mail gives me an error that the smtp server failed and suggests that I
I have no Internet connection and it cannot determine my location.
Strangely though, I was able to both send and receive email normally
about 1 am this morning, which was after the upgrade. Also, I just
received a phone call so that part works.
