[NPMUG] MS Office 2008 problems Grrrr!

Hi all,

I am having problems with just one user account on my home machine  
and MS-Office 2008.  (And yes it is my user account, doh!) I am  
getting the friendly, yet useless message: Microsoft Word has  
encountered a problem and needs to close message each time I try to  
open Word.  I have done the usual things, thrown away the Microsoft  
Preferences and com.Microsoft files.  I have even removed the package  
entirely (I think) and reinstalled it.  No go.  Same message, We are  
sorry for the inconvenience.  Further looking yields this:

None of the other users of the machine get this, their installs work  
just fine, thank you.  I have gone to the disk utility and repaired  
the permissions, I've created a new account where Word seems to run  
in all its glory with no errors.  Is my user account/home dir, gulp,  
corrupt?  How can I fix this.  I need to run Word and I need to keep  
my account and home dir as is.  What can I try next?  Thank you!
